Lab Away Day

Last week the CPPDS team swapped our desks for a day of talks, planning, and some very competitive Pictionary!

The morning was spent at Emmanuel College, where our PhD students, Clinical Research Fellows, & Post-docs shared what they’ve been working on over the past year, and presented the exciting projects they’re developing for the future.
Emanuele and Graham rounded things off with an overview of everything happening across the lab.

With so many new ideas and collaborations in the pipeline, it’s safe to say we’re looking forward to a busy and exciting year ahead.

After a delicious lunch at the Tiffin Truck, we headed over to Jesus College for some well deserved fun. The original plan involved lawn games and a lab sports day, but the summer heat had other ideas, so we retreated to the thatched pavilion instead.

What followed was a marathon game of 1980s Pictionary. Between mysterious pop culture references, words that nobody could drawn no matter the creative artistic interpretation, (and some impressive tactics – always guess hat first, it may just work in your favour), there was a lot of laughter and we may have just honed some communication skills along the way. Safe to say, artistic ability wasn’t a prerequisite for being in the lab, but we made it work!

A brilliant day all round, full of interesting discussions, exciting plans for the year ahead, and a reminder that spending time together away from our screens is just as important as the work itself. Thank you very much to every one involved in organising the day.
